Multi tour of Croatian National parks
8 days/7 nights Huck Finn Adventure Travel program 2010

Croatia has eight national parks: Brijuni, Kornati, Krka, Mljet, Paklenica, Plitvice Lakes, Risnjak and North Velebit. The most popular Croatian National Parks are Plitvice Lakes, followed by Krka, Kornati and Paklenica. The Novigrad bay area is surrounded by the top 4 national parks.
Novigrad is a small fishermen village situated deep in Novigrad Sea. The village has managed to preserve its authentic traditional architecture, untouched by modern tourism. The morning fishermen’s market and quiet village atmosphere are perfect for guests who want to get away from big summer crowds all in friendly atmosphere. It is absolutely not a typical tourist-hotel resort.
Hiking and sea kayaking are included in program as everyday activities and are suitable for all ages. The sea and rivers are friendly – they have pleasant temperatures in summer and they are not dangerous or physically demanding.

Accommodation is provided in a newly renovated apart-hotel “ Castrum Novum” situated right on the beach, at the quiet end of the village. All apartments are air conditioned, with shower/toilet, telephone/Internet line, fully equipped kitchen and satellite TV. It’s pleasant cafe and restaurant terrace gives memorable views of the sunset over the bay and Velebit Mountain peaks. The wellness, fitness and sauna center is open, charge free for the guests of this activity program. Hotel also provides a billiard room/game room for our group meetings and planning of our next day destination.

ITINERARY

Day 1 - Sat: After arriving to Novigrad and settling into your accommodation, join other group members for an informal welcome drink and evening snack.

Day 2 - Sun: We head out for canoeing down the magnificent wild-west-like canyons of the Zrmanja and Krupa Rivers. Enjoy easy rapids, swimming in crystal clear waters and a shower under the waterfalls. If the water level is high (usually in spring and early summer) it will be a rafting trip.

Day 3 - Mon: Whole day boat and walk tour of the Krka River National Park. We will visit the Park’s magnificent Skradinski Buk and Roski waterfalls, numerous mills, streams and cascades, as well as a famous Franciscan monastery. You will be able to admire the abundant wildlife, particularly birds – more than 200 different species.

Day 4 - Tue: Hiking in Paklenica National Park, a mountain well known for mountaineering, free climbing, caves and mountain streams. The name Paklenica probably derives from black pine sap called “paklina”, which the locals used in traditional medicine, for wound treatment, for light and for coating of wooden boats. Hiking is the only way to really get to know Paklenica.

Day 5 - Wed: A day spent in the Plitvice Lakes National Park, hiking around 16 emerald green and opal blue lakes, passing along numerous waterfalls and caves. Later in the afternoon you can enjoy taking a swim in warm water just in front of your house.

Day 6 - Thu: This day is all about exploring hidden places of Novigrad Bay in our sea kayak. We will head towards Maslenica Bridge once we reach the representable red construction that was destroyed during the war in Croatia; we challenge ourselves to find the most beautiful little town of Vinjerac.

Day 7 - Fri: In the central part of Croatian Adriatic Sea there is an amazing archipelago of islands named Kornati Islands. There are 89 islands, islets and reefs within the area of Kornati National Park (238 km of the coastline) what make it the most indented group of islands in the Mediterranean. In the evening we shall visit Zadar, ancient town with lively Mediterranean night life.

Day 8 - Sat: Depart Novigrad for the airport and flight home.
