This tour follows the outline of Triglav National Park area in the Slovenian Alps, the most exciting and beautiful area in Slovenia. Great landscapes include snow covered mountain peaks, clear lakes, mountain streams, canyons, green rivers, woods, fields and pastures. It is a home to wild animals and flowers, but also of friendly, hard working people proud of their heritage. All this, including many sights of cultural and historic interest, make this tour a memorable experience.

The museums of Bled, Triglav, Trenta and Kobarid along the route are open to visitors. Participants in the bicycle tour will have time to visit them if they are interested. Numerous open air places and events of cultural (art, music, history, folklore) interest can be visited during the trip.

Itinerary:
Day 1: The tour starts in Kranjska Gora, a mountain resort in Slovenia just across the Austrian border the famous winter sports resort and the site of the World Cup skiing events.
Day 2: Bicycle or hike to Vrsic Pass for afternoon tea and snack in the hut over 1,600 meters above sea level. After refreshments, you will begin the long descent to the valley of Soca (34 km) and Bovec -- a small town in the valley of one of the world’s most beautiful rivers surrounded by mountains over 2000 meters high. You will get to know the upper Soca valley, Trenta and its museum, Alpinum - a live, open-air exhibition of alpine plants, as well as the quiet valleys and villages of Lepena and Koritnica.

Day 3: You will bike and hike among waterfalls, rolling hills, and mountain streams. You can also raft down the Soca on the World Whitewater Canoeing Championships course. Continue your bicycle trip along the river - its valleys, canyons, and villages to Kobarid. Isonzo (Italian for Soca) was a famous battleground during World War I, experienced and described by Ernest Hemingway in his A Farewell to Arms. After a visit to the museum you will continue to Tolmin and hike in Tolminska Korita, an impressive gorge in Triglav National Park. Visit Dante’s cave, which got its name after the great poet visited it in 1319. Overnight in Most na Soci, a picturesque place overlooking the lake formed by the Soca and the Idrijca rivers.
Day 4: Bicycle and a short train ride on the most picturesque railroad route in Slovenia to Bohinj lake and village. Bohinj is a romantic, quiet area admired by those who love and appreciate nature.
Day 5: You will have time to explore and enjoy this lovely corner of Triglav National Park - visit Savica waterfall or Mostnica Gorges by bike or Vogel mountain by cable car, swim or canoe in the lake or Sava Bohinjka river.
Day 6: Follow the green Sava Bohinjka river to Bled. Bled Lake is a well known tourist resort and with its church in the middle of the lake was described by National Geographic magazine as "a perfect setting for a fairy tale".
Day 7: Head North to explore the Vintgar canyon, continue along country roads and the Radovna river in Triglav National Park back to Kranjska Gora. Stop for a picnic and rest by the river and Pericnik waterfall.
Day 8: Departure.

About the tour
Although Triglav park is a mountain area, our tour includes less traveled roads (no heavy traffic) that follow the rivers, their valleys and canyons, avoiding long and steep climbs. Vrsic pass (1611 m) can be done by bike from Kranjska Gora (850 m) for those in good physical condition, but is normally taken by walking or in the accompanying mini bus. Another difficult part, between Soca Valley and Bohinj Lake, can be avoided by taking a short train ride through a tunnel. The tour is about 200 kilometers long, which makes an average of about 35 km per day that can be done in less than two hours by bike, but a lot of time is spent visiting many interesting spots en route. Also, each resort has opportunities for short bike tours that one can do on his own. The stretches along Radovna river (12 km) are pleasant country roads with no pavement. The participants are not obliged to stick with the group at all times, they can travel on their own.
