Discover southern Dalmatia, its islands and one of the most beautiful cities of the world – Dubrovnik.
8 days/7 nights Huck Finn Adventure Travel program 2010

This tour is designed for those who love being active in the nature, who admire art and history, appreciate ancient architecture and local tradition. It is neither a simple sailing trip nor a strenuous trip. Daily activities are usually short and not too demanding. Dubrovnik and Elafiti shorelines are rich in history and natural variety - cliffs, caves, coves, rocks, beaches, pine forests, birds, flowers and so much more. We will explore them on a sailing yacht, in sea kayaks, on bicycle , on foot, by swimming and snorkeling.

Lopud, Kolocep and Sipan belong to Elafiti Islands Archipelago, less than an hour sailing time from Dubrovnik. They are emerald islands covered by forests, with little car traffic, with lots of sunshine and sandy beaches. Each has no more than a couple of hundred permanent residents who live in traditional stone houses with remarkable character. Tall palm trees, parks, gardens and small pathways everywhere contribute to easy-going life style. Occasionally our yachts or kayaks are escorted by friendly dolphins or tunas common in the area. The sea is blue, clear, warm and friendly.

ITINERARY

Day 1- Sat:After the arrival in Dubrovnik Airport you will be transferred to Zaton Bay, a village just outside of Dubrovnik. After boarding and shopping in the local stores we will sail out northwest to Sipan Island on our modern catamaran yacht for 6-10 passengers with a lot of deck space, comfort and very good sailing performance. Luka Sipanska on the far end of the island is a charming and romantic fishing village and bay surrounded with palm trees. It is picturesque and a favorite mooring place of sailing yachts. Sipan is the largest of Elafiti Islands and bicycles will take us to explore its landscapes, castles, chapels and monasteries. This fishing and farming island was often a target of pirates and conquerors long ago. Nowadays it attracts tourists while resisting the attacks of mass tourism. A pleasant first evening will be spent walking in the serene ambience of the village, tasting local seafood and wines and enjoying soft music.

Day 2 - Sun:After breakfast and morning coffee we sail northwest to Mljet Island National Park. The northern part of the island is covered with a dense, green forest. The Park has two beautiful salt water lakes, one with a 14 century monastery on a tiny island. We will explore them on foot and in kayaks, then enjoy dinner under palm trees of a lakeside pub. The quiet, warm waters of the Small Lake provide unforgettable night swimming under the stars. The catamaran will be anchored for the night by a tiny island of Pomestak in Pomena.

Day 3 - Mon:Next we will sail to Trstenik on Peljesac Peninsula – an area covered with wineyards and home of some of world famous wines. During a walk in this picturesque village you will have time for wine tasting and shopping before we continue to explore the wonderful hidden beaches of the peninsula, perfect for swimming, snorkelling or a beach party picnic. In the afternoon we will sail to a sailors' retreat Kobas, a tiny village with simple waterfont restaurants serving fresh seafood right by the sea. We shall spend the evening and night in its welcoming atmosphere.

Day 4 - Tue:Today we shall explore Ston, walk the wall built centuries ago to protect the penisula against the mighy Otoman Empire armies. Ston is a very friendly small, tipically Mediterranean town. You will see the well known salt plants and buy fresh supplies here. We will continue to Lopud Island to anchor by the most beautiful beach of the area for lunch and a swim. A walk across the island to a tiny town of the same name takes only half hour. In the afternoon we will explore the last of the Elaphiti Islands on our tour – Kolocep. The island is perfect for kayaking, it has.only two villages, lovely hiking paths and simple restaurant famous among locals for its fresh seafood and home grown salads.

Day 5 - Wed: In the morning we shall have breakfast and disembark in Zaton Bay to move to the rooms in one of the traditional waterfront guesthouses. The World Heritage site – Dubrovnik - is the most beautiful town on the Mediterranean. The afternoon plan is to explore and enjoy it until late in the night.

Day 6 - Thu: Today we shall kayak to the best sea kayaking island in the Adriatic – Kolocep Island, just outside of Dubrovnik. After exploring and enjoying its beaches, caves and cliffs we shall relax in a friendly atmosphere of a local fish restaurant.

Day 7 - Fri:This day is reserved for the activity of your choice. Spend it relaxing on the beach or take an optional trip to the old walled town of Korcula. You can spend it in Dubrovnik if you are a real art and history freak or go canoeing on Trebizat River in Bosnia and Herzegovina, .plus visit the old Ottoman trading post Mostar. Or – if you already know all of those – Montenegro is only one hour drive from Zaton Bay.

Day 8 - Sat: After breakfast departure to Dubrovnik airport for homebound flight.
